The aim of this section is to identify your face shape, learn where shading / highlighting (contouring) and blush should be applied for maximum effect, enhancing your nataural features.

(1) Place a mirror next to the monitor so you can easily compare the faces against your own face.

(2) Most people contour their makeup after foundation. With a light, skin matched and darker foundation you can lay down basic contours at the foundation stage. However you will need upto 3 foundation colors.

The oval shaped face has been widely regarded as the most feminine of all face shapes over the centuries. For those of us not lucky enough to own such a face we can easily achieve the illusion of an oval face by careful use of shading and highlighting to one's face.

Of the 5 face shapes shown below, one will be close to your face shape. It's never easy to identify your own shape so a friend's opinion might be needed. Click on each face to examine them until you have found one that is a close match.

To see where you would use shading, highlighting and blush to compensate for your face shape, click the arrow (lower right). This can be applied either at the foundation stage or more commonly after foundation. A second arrow click will show all three elements smoothly blended
.
